Up
until this point, the conversation between Clara and Lydia had been minimal.
Just the usual “when are we eating” and “I need to relieve myself.” Nothing of
importance until now.
Both
Kit and Larry argued that at least one of them should accompany her and make
sure nothing happened. While Clara appreciated their concerns, she knew how to
handle situations like this. She was a Pinkerton after all.
And
she was growing tired of chasing after the bad guys, or in this case,
girls. Which was why she’d declined several assignments this past year. She
needed to regroup.
“Looks
like your escort has arrived,” Clara said, as the train steamed into the
station.
