“As a
matter-of-fact that was mild. Chef Winston is an expert when it comes to
gingerbread,” Nikki replied pride filling her to the brim. She’d worked hard to
secure Miles and she wasn’t about to let him go until he was ready to retire.
“So all he
knows is gingerbread? Must be boring for your guests,” Seth jabbed.
“Maybe you
need to brush up on your James Beard chefs. You’ll find Chef Winston
among the most sought-after chefs who decided a quieter life was more suitable
for him,” Nikki informed, her gaze on movement in the dining room.
“Gabby, this
is Chef Jermaine. Please give him a tour of the kitchen, pantry and
refrigerator. Also order whatever supplies the chief needs while he is here for
the Hathaway wedding.
“Chef
Jermaine, I’m positive you’ll find the kitchen staff willing to please you and follow
your instructions to the tee. Enjoy your stay with us,” Nikki said then turned
and went back to her office where she could regroup. She needed to figure out
how to handle the unexpected appearance of the ghost of past heartache.
